Abstract. Suwito W, Nugroho WS, Wahyuni AETH, Sumiarto B. 2021. Antimicrobial resistance in coagulase-negative staphylococci isolated from subclinical mastitis Ettawa Crossbred goat (PE) Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 3418-3422. Subclinical (SCM) Goat is most frequently caused by with a significant reduction milk yield. The aim of this study to determine antimicrobial patterns (CoNS) PE SCM. A total 36 CoNS isolates originating SCM were collected semisolid tube use study. All further examined for susceptibility testing the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. Antibiotic samples according Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). showed highest rate against sulfamethoxazole (65%), ampicillin (55.56%), penicillin (45%), cefoxitin (33.33%), erythromycin (25%), oxytetracycline (20%), tetracycline (15%), gentamicin and neomycin (11.11%), while oxacillin was sensitive. multiple antimicrobials observed 15% ampicillin, tetracycline, then 5-10% penicillin, erythromycin, oxytetracycline. majority resistant then, followed cefoxitin, oxytetracycline, neomycin. In addition, penicillin-resistant multidrug-resistant (MDR).

Antibiotic Resistance in Staphylococcus aureus and Coagulase Negative Staphylococci Isolated from Goats with Subclinical Mastitis

Antimicrobial resistance patterns and gene coding for methicillin resistance (mecA) were determined in 25 S. aureus and 75 Coagulase Negative Staphylococci (CNS) strains isolates from half-udder milk samples collected from goats with subclinical mastitis. Fourteen (56.0%) S. aureus and thirty-one (41.3%) CNS isolates were resistant to one or more antimicrobial agents. S. aureus showed the highe...

Virulence Factors in Coagulase-negative Staphylococci Isolated from Cows with Subclinical Mastitis

The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of virulence genes in 46 coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) strains isolated from 46 udder quarters of 46 cows with subclinical mastitis. The isolates were examined phenotypically (cultural features, Gram stain, catalase, coagulase, API tests) and genotypically for: icaA, icaAB, icaD, atlE, bhp, agrA, sarA, mecA, and blaZ genes. These is...

Production of slime by coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) isolated from clinical and subclinical mastitis in cows.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the slime-producing ability of coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) isolated from clinical and subclinical mastitis in cows. The study was carried out on 100 isolates of CNS obtained from milk of 86 cows from farms located in the Lublin region (Poland). Slime-producing ability was observed in over half of coagulase-negative staphylococci (54.0% of isolated...

Genetic characterization of antimicrobial resistance in coagulase-negative staphylococci from bovine mastitis milk.

Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS; n=417) were isolated from bovine milk and identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Nineteen different species were identified, and Staphylococcus xylosus, Staphylococcus chromogenes, Staphylococcus haemolyticus, and Staphylococcus sciuri were the most prevalent species. Resistance to oxacillin (47.0% of th...

Species distribution and resistance profiles of coagulase-negative staphylococci isolated from bovine mastitis in Switzerland.

Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) are the predominant cause of bovine intra-mammary infections. They can lead to chronic infections and were reported to significantly increase milk somatic cell counts. The goal of our study was to determine the species distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of CNS in bovine mastitis milk samples in Switzerland. Between March 2011 and Februa...
